Jambo from Kenya!

We are thankful that all the Open Arms International mission team members have arrived safely in Kenya, Africa with bags. Thank you for your prayers!

We enjoyed two days in Nairobi before continuing the journey to Eldoret today. Activities included shopping, feeding giraffes, visiting Sheldrick Wildlife Trust where orphaned elephants and rhinos are cared for, and getting to know each other at meal times. Some of our team members survived being charged by a rhino! Good thing it was only six months old. They have a great story to share with their grandchildren some day;)

We have a great group of people on the team. They are all working really well together. Those of us from the US are struggling to stay awake during the day and sleep at night. However, that is not a problem for our UK teammates.

Tomorrow will be our first day of work at the Open Arms Village. We are anxious to roll up our sleeves and get to work. I am looking forward to seeing the children again.

Abarikiwe! (Be Blessed!)

Back to Kenya!

Yes, it is true! I am returning to Kenya, Africa with Open Arms International. We have a truly international team that consists of members from the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Kenya, and Uganda. Six of us leave Portland, Oregon at noon tomorrow (6/27/09). We will meet up with several UK team members in Amsterdam and fly to Nairobi together.

Most of us will stay in Nairobi two nights before flying to Eldoret, Kenya on June 30th. While in Nairobi,  Taxi George and I will arrange for cultural opportunities to help the team transition to Kenyan life.

We have a full schedule of outreach while in Eldoret, including construction work at the Open Arms Village, prison visit, four medical clinics, etc. Please keep us in your prayers for safe journey and open hearts for what God has planned for us.

Abarikiwe! (Be blessed!)
